You are welcome to participate in this 3.5 hour workshop that will include:

  • getting clear on your priorities,
  • learning a time management approach that immediately makes you noticeably productive,
  • getting to know several techniques that will “create” time for you out of nothing,
  • setting yourself up for success,
  • learning concrete strategies on how to deal with overwhelm,
  • learning and mastering productivity techniques that will hugely propel you towards your goals and will help you achieve anything you want,
  • practicing to say NO (even to your supervisor ;-)), and
  • becoming skilled at turning a string of unproductive days into a “productivity spell”.

Even if you are a “productive” kind of person, you would still benefit from attending as Olga will be sharing her own experience of going through the PhD process about 7-10 years ago and giving some insights into her further career as a research scientist.

The workshop will be on the 11 Feb 2011 ( Friday) starting at 10:30. It will run until 2pm with a break at 12:30 with a (yummy!) lunch provided. It will take place in the CSEC meeting room on the 2nd floor (use the CSEC link from the 3rd floor of JCMB).

The workshop is endorsed by the CSEC director, and is absolutely free. It will involve Olga talking about some of the concepts and techniques, discussion, some writing exercises inside a specially developed productivity workbook that will be yours to keep as a reference, and of course a Q&A session, where Olga and all other participants will attempt to solve YOUR problems 🙂

The workshop is based on the ideas, some of which are posted in Olga’s blog:

These blog articles have already been helpful to some of the CSEC PhD students.

If you do decide to attend, please e-mail Olga at o.degtyareva@ed.ac.uk.

See you on the 11 February 2011!

Best wishes, Olga
